Hey Salesforce Admins! You might have already noticed, but itโs a new season – Spring. Not only can we enjoy the warmer weather and the longer days, but we can also look forward to some hot Salesforce updates that lay ahead of us. However, in the meantime, instead of jumping into the latest fashion trend, or dusting off the duster for that annual Spring home clean, why not put a Spring into your own Admin step with these fresh tips below.
Yes, your live organisation should always be dupe free and squeaky clean, but you already know this. This time Iโm talking about your testing environment – Sandbox. We all know that data changes in the live org, therefore it is good to keep your testing and development environment up to date with a Sandbox refresh. With partial or full data refreshes and an easy 6 step process to complete the refresh, there are no excuses to keeping your Sandbox squeaky clean. Oh and those hot Salesforce updates I mentioned earlier? Yes I was referring to the Summer 15 release (yay). This release is ready for Sandbox preview on May 8, so click here to see whether a Sandbox refresh is necessary for your instance.
Chatter users, you may be familiar with standard Chatter Actions; Post, Link, Questions, Thanks, File, Polls. However, Admins did you know that you can set up more actions by creating object specific actions that will allow you to define ways to interact with records? If not, then you are missing out on same time saving opportunities for your users. In 10 easy steps you can create a new case from the account record, log a call on a case, send a new email and much more. And if you want to get a little more technical then you could always get funky with VisualForce pages and create your own custom Actions! A little more complicated, but us Admins love a Salesforce challenge right?
Itโs never too late to learn something new when it comes to Salesforce. So why not take this fresh new season to expand your Salesforce potential. Not Salesforce Admin certified? Set a date, get revising and take the test. You donโt have to have a technical background and there are a number of platforms for you to get the necessary help required to nail the exam. Thinking about it? Why not start here at the Salesforce Certification Study Group. Already certified? Why not take on a new skill or learn a new feature? For example, delve into the world of VisualForces pages to create those custom actions, master Flow Designer, which is great for those not quite ready for code, but want to get stuck into more gritty declarative work and much more!
If that isn’t enough to get you going, here is a little more motivation to get you going this Spring – “Obstacles can’t stop you. Problems can’t stop you. Most of all, other people can’t stop you. Only YOU can stop you.” – Jeffrey Gitomer
See you next week!
