As a Salesforce Administrator, you may think that I spend most of my time working from within Salesforce. It is true, I doโฆ when configuring. When it comes to conversing with clients and colleagues, you may not be surprised to learn that I actually still do a bit of this through thee old faithful – Gmail. But why and how may you ask?
Well thanks to integration tools like Cirrus Insight my time is more productive. Not only am I able to access and update Salesforce data from Gmail (and Outlook), but I can do so from my mobile device. Yes, that means I can add leads, update contacts, accounts, opportunities, relate emails to their corresponding record and much more on the fly – which I have written about in previous blogs accessible below. Believe me, working from your email account doesn’t mean that important data has to skip Salesforce – well not anymore!
You may have guessed that I am a huge fan of Cirrus Insight and as a result (as per usual) I am excited by their latest feature releases, especially the โSalesforce Template Editorโ.
If you are a current Cirrus Insight user, then you may ย know that you already have the ability to send Salesforce templates and relate that email to the relevant record from your inbox; This has been possible for a few years now. If like me you are a tad fed up having to send the same email to multiple people throughout the day, you are going to LOVE the fact that you can now create, edit and manage Salesforce Email Template right there in your inbox.
ย Letโs take a look at how to use this feature:-
First select the template icon ย in your new message composer window in your email account.
If you wish to edit an existing template, select the folder, select the template and then click the edit button
If you wish to create a new template instead of selecting an existing template click the button.
This is where the magic begins!
From the template editor box you can fill out the subject and bring in the relevant Merge fields from Salesforce by clicking the Merge Field button. In the example below you can see the Contact name and Account fields.
If you wish to save the template to Salesforce, select the โSave to Salesforce Templatesโ checkbox, add a Template name, Description, Folder and then click
Continue to click Save & Merge and check to see it is merging off the right records. Hit merge when satisfied.
As you can see the merge fields have automatically populated the email. Here I am talking to Alex at Desynit.
Now do you see why I donโt leave my inbox?
